The following studies are currently recruiting participants:
Step Away - This study is testing whether a smartphone app can help people control or stop drinking alcohol. The app also helps connect people with local alcohol support services. If you’ve had two or more occasions in the last 30 days where you have drunk six or more glasses of alcohol on one occasion this study may be right for you. You have to also be living in Auckland, at least 18 years of age, and have access to an iphone (sorry android users – our app is not quite ready yet). See How They Grow - We are looking for parents and whānau carers of children aged 0-2 who are willing to take part in an online survey to share their experiences of using growth charts, how useful they have found them, barriers and enablers to using them and any other points that parents and whānau carers want to share. MyTeen - We are inviting parents / primary caregivers who are caring for a child aged 10-15 to take part in the MyTeen study to see if a free text-messaging programme providing positive parenting tips and information on youth mental health is helpful. All we need is an hour of your time over the course of three months to complete 3 online questionnaires. Keratin4VLU - If you have a venous leg ulcer and can use compression bandaging, you might be interested in participating in a randomised trial of wool-derived keratin dressings for venous leg ulcers currently recruiting through the Auckland, Counties Manukau, Southern District Nursing Services and Nurse Maude Association in Christchurch. RAUORA - If you are smoking and want to quit, live in the Central North Island region of NZ, self-identify as Māori or whānau of Māori, are at least 18 years of age, and have access to a phone, you might be interested in participating in a trial comparing two medicine that can help you quit smoking. STATUS – We are looking for people who want to quit smoking and are using Community Alcohol and Drug Services or Community Mental Health Services in Auckland. Are you at least 18 years of age, live in the Auckland region, have not used Champix in the past 12 months, and have tried but failed to quit smoking using other smoking cessation medicines, you might be interested in participating in this clinical trial. OL@-OR@ – We are looking for people who want to join a study looking at how useful a mobile health tool is in delivering health information and support to Māori and Pasifika communities. The tool was created by Māori and Pasifika communities together with researchers from three universities across New Zealand. People who are over 18 years old, are part of a community who are participating, own a smartphone/ tablet/ laptop/ computer, have access to internet at least once a week, and have an email address can contact the Project Manager to find out more or register their interest: olaora@auckland.ac.nz.
