DIET programme research shows NZ children see an average of 27 junk food ads a day

New Zealand children are exposed to around 27 unhealthy food advertisements per day, innovative camera research from Otago and Auckland Universities has revealed.

The research found children were frequently exposed, across multiple settings, to marketing of unhealthy foods not recommended to be marketed to children. Read more

World’s largest e-cigarette trial has just finished recruiting

The HRC-funded ASCEND-II trial has just finished 19 months of recruitment, with 1124 people randomised to receive either 1) nicotine patches, 2) nicotine patches plus a nicotine-containing e-cigarette, or 3) nicotine patches plus a nicotine-free e-cigarette. The last follow-up visit is scheduled for May 2018, with results available July/August 2018. Read more
